What have I learned about the Renaissance

May 29, 2007

The last two classes we did a lot about the Renaissance. Even Though I didn’t learn much, but I somehow receive some information about it. Form all the annoy stump cards and blunder cards, I knew that thermometer has been invented since the 1400s by Galileo, but not the one that you can put inside your mouth. Florin worth about six pounds of silver, but it doesn’t worth anything today. Aspirin is invented very lately after the 1700s. The last thing I learn is that researching is hard. The unlucky group always get unlucky assignments.

Similar plane to the crashed ones

http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2007/WORLD/africa/05/05/kenya.plane.ap/story.737.800.ap.jpg

What new information has emerged

In Saturday, a plane fly from Nairobi to Cameroon had crashed at the north of Niete. According to the Kenya Airways CEO Titus Naikuni, he said that” The last message was received in Douala after takeoff and thereafter the tower was unable to contact the plane”Investigators think that it is because of a faulty alarm error for that crash, which killed 169 people.

What do I find interesting about this topic

This topic has a lot of things to find out. Like how many people died, why it crashed and where it crashed. The part where I find out answers is what interested me. And besides, I do know some of the answers, like169 people are killed and it crashed in somewhere near Douala.

What do I like about the initial posting

His article is well-organized, so when I read it, I can see what I am looking for straight away. The color of the background and words looks good. The pictures are clear and related to the topic. The most important is that his writing doesn’t sound like a bible. When I read it, I feel like keep reading it.

Renaissance Interview Reflection

May 7, 2007

In today’s interview, I learn that although everyone is famous for different reasons, but they all spend the same effort on their interest and create new miracles to the world. Form all the interview that I’ve heard, I realize that a lot of them are not learning the thing that they are famous for before they finished university. Every single of them has a different talent. They seems to realize that they can’t only be good at the things they are famous for, because it gives a limit to the things they could do.

During the interview, there is one big error that we all have. While we are speaking, we aren’t speak loud enough and the computer can’t receive very well. As a result, it sounds very weird when I played it.

Copernicus, one of the major Renaissance person who speak against the church boldly and correct Ptolemy’s theory. Before Copernicus came out of his theory, everyone accept the theory that the Earth is the center of the universe. This untrue theory has been last for approximately 700 years. When Copernicus present this theory, he got himself into a lot of trouble. But, he use his courage to argue against the church, although it doesn’t get accepted after his death, but we can see his courage. He is able to change the world. He gives us new ideas, new information, and new way of thinking. His theory until now is still been use today. What a major genius he is.

 What is the issue

In Algeria’s capital, Algier, suicide boming occur twice. The official APS agency said at least 12 people were killed and 118 injured in the first attack near the government building. The second attack killed 11 people and 44 people got injured.

Before the suicide boming, four suspects were trying to blew themselve up. anyway, they got caught by the police. Tree of the suspects speed up and blow successfully, but the fourth one got shot by the gun. Suicide boming had happened for more than six years and this is the worst attack of all. From all the suicide boming, it had killed up to 150,000 people. Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem called all these attacks a “cowardly and criminal act”.

Who is invloved

  • All the family that had people died because of this issue
  • Government of Algeria
  • Reporters
  • Me

Who is affected and how

  1. Familes that one or more of the family members had died after the blow. There familes had to put their dead body in a safe place
  2. Suicide bomer. The one who cause the issue to happen.
  3. Governments of Algeria. They need to change the country’s safety.

What would I do if I am directly involve

  • What do you think is the best solution

If I am the police, I will break the car’s wheel and call people to make the bomb unexploded. If I am the president, I will try to understand why people do this, and think about how tto prevent them.

  • Think about the future and the way peoples lives will be impacted

If government didn’t bother to solve the problem, then people will live in panic and more people will die like this. If the government do try to solve it and solve successfully, then people will no longer die and population can stay high.

Renaissance Person

April 10, 2007

During the Renaissance and earlier, people knows some fact about the universe like planets orbit the sun in oval shape, everything in the universe rotate, we won’t fly off to the universe etc. Even though they know all these facts, they don’t know why it act like that. All these questions are still a big mystery until a person called Sir Issac Newton who discovered all these crazy physics and all these mysteries makes sense suddenly. Newton has his famous three laws. His first law says that object in motion stay in motion, object at rest stay at rest, unless some unbalance force act on it. It explains why galaxies keeps on moving away from each other without stopping at all. His second law says that force depends on the mass and the acceleration. It explains why we won’t fly out into the universe. His third law says that force always act in equal, opposite pairs. It explains why things orbit around other bigger things. There are a lot other cool truth. Newton solve so many mysteries in the world. So Sir Issac Newton, you are the best Renaissance person in the world and I Tony Tu support you.Sir Issac Newton image

Are there people today willing to give up their lives for a cause they believe in

February 22, 2007

Yes, there are. Only if the thing affects their entire life. In the world, if people has to give up their family, it will probably be hard for them. Family takes a long time to form, and it contains all of their hard work to create this. If someday they have to give up there family, they will fight for it. What they are fighting for is not for their family members, but for the hard work they have made. Who in the world would ever want to give up their hard work? Even if there work is not worth it.

Anyway, there are also some people who didn’t care about it much. People who experience pain will able to give up what they need to and still have their lives. Since these type of people experienced grief, they are able to think in an optimistic way. we should learn to think openly, so you won’t need to give up your life just for some stupid reasons which won’t affect you much.

How important was religion to people of the Middle Ages

February 15, 2007

From the nine clues that we have, we somehow can tell that middle Ages are very loyal and faithful about their religion. In England, churches and monasteries filled almost every city in England, which is probably trying to increase the population of monks. In a city, they build the churches in the center of a city, which show the importance of religion.

The most important man in Christianity is Jesus. A lot of Christians wanted to visit him. Loads of people went on a trip called pilgrimage. However, the transportation at that time is mainly horse and feet, which makes the trip a lot harder then now. For this trip, people had to give up their health, money, land etc, just to get a closer look of Jesus.

In a monastery, monks are everywhere. Monks spend their entire life in the monastery just for their religion. Everyday, they woke up at one. And After they were awake, they started to read bibles, pray and do things which flavor the god. They also have to copy the bibles for certain reasons, which make all monks they most clever people in the country.

In a city, people had to give 1/10 of their year salary to the church. They thought that if they make the religion looks good, then they go to heaven after they died. Even thought it is just a belief. From all these clues above, I can tell that gods are controling their whole life. People are very dependent on religion. Religions are probably the most important thing in their life.

What have I learned about the Middle ages

February 8, 2007

Today, we learn about the middle ages. It is about AIDs which spread among the country and how they react. In countries like India, China, and Russia, all these countries use boats to trade goods throughout the Middle ages.

AID viruses

What causes AIDs to spread among the country

At the last paragraph, we talk about that they use boats to trade. anyway, there boats are very dirty that it carrys all these rats and germs without even realizing it. These rats has a type of virus called AIDs. All these rats ran around the country when the boat arrived at its destination. These rats carries AID viruses nd spread throughout the countries and causes a lot of poeple to be involved.

What do they first think about this issue

At that time the microorganisms is not recognize by people. The first thing that they think about this desease is that the gods are punishing them. In order to flavor the god, they do a lot of action that they thought will lower down their punishments. However, all those things weren’t really helping. If they wanted to stop this issue, then they should find the organisms which carry this desease and spread to them, rather than try doing things that came out from imaginations.

How did they deal with it

As I said above, they do things that will decrease their punishments. The thing they do is to kill all the people who got AIDs because they thought that they were the people who do bad things. After this massive killings, the whole country lost 1/3 of its population, and the problem is still there because they didn’t kill the rats.

Deputy health minister arrested in U.S.-Iraqi raid

Al-Zamil

Al-Shammari

What is the issue

The deputy health minister, Hakem Abbas al-Zamili was arrested because he was suspected of being a central figure in alleged corruption and Mehdi Army infiltration of the ministry, according to the U.S. military statement. The statement accused this ministry official by doing several kickback schemes just to funnel money to the militia and militia members.        He was also suspected that he is implicated in the death of several ministries. According to the
U.S. military statement, he threatened many members of the ministries who were against his opinion.        Al-Shammari, the health minister, who criticize the way they seize the deputy. He said that it will make the whole ministry be embarrassed, also, he should know that he will be coorperate.

Who is involved

  1. Deputy health minister Al-Zamili (the main person in this article)

  2. Health minister Al-Shammari (helping Al-Zamili)

  3. People work in the ministry

  4. Reporters from U.S. and
    Iraq (to get the news)

  5. Me (person who read this article)

Who is affected and how

  • Al-Zamili, he needs to deal with his guilt.
  • U.S. military statement, tried to get Al-Zamili into jail so they can earn money.
  • Al-Shammari, who defend for him

What would you do if you were directly involved

What is the best solution

If today I am Al-Zamili, first, I will ask the military statement what corruption did I do? Also, before I enter the court room, I will try to be friend with the judge. If I do need to go to the jail, then I will ask my lawyers to find proves which will help me leave as soon a possible.

Think about the future and the way peoples lives will be impacted

In the future, if everyone find out that Al-Zamili is innocent, then the whole military will be accuse. Al-Zamili will use the slander to accuse them. Also, he will have more dignity.

In the future, if everyone agree that Al-Zamili is guilty, then the whole military will be popular even they are just lying, and they will be even more powerful than usual.
